Digital oscilloscopes, or digital storage oscilloscopes (often referred to as DSOs) input a signal and then digitize it through the use of an analog-to-digital converter. First an attenuator scales the waveform, and then a vertical amplifier provides additional scaling while passing the waveform to the analog-to-digital converter (ADC). The ADC samples and digitizes the incoming signal. It then stores this data in memory. A microprocessor system performs any additional post-processing you have specified before the signal is finally displayed on the digital oscilloscope.


Having the data in digital form enables the oscilloscope to perform a variety of measurements on the waveform. Signals can also be stored indefinitely in memory. The data can be printed or transferred to a computer via a flash drive, LAN, USB, or DVD-RW, or you can use software to control and monitor your digital oscilloscope from a computer using a virtual front panel.

This powerful USB 3.0 super speed oscilloscope combines fast sampling up to 1 GSa/s with high resolutions of 12, 14 and 16 bit and a large memory of 64 Mpoints on all four channels. The oscilloscope supports continuous streaming measurements up to 200 MSa/s and can be synchronized with other oscilloscopes using the CMI interface to form a multi channel combined instrument with synchronized time base. The CMI interface is available by default on the Handyscope HS6 DIFF. Optionally, the Handyscope HS6 DIFF can be delivered with SureConnect connection test and resistance measurement on each channel.
